As a JAMB candidate, it shouldn’t be news that POST UME was
scraped last year and screening of results was introduced. Looking at the way
the screening is been conducted, which one do you think should be totally
scraped? POST UME or SCREENING.
POST UME to me, is more like sitting for JAMB because most
questions asked are being taken from JAMB past questions. The argument that led
to the scraping of the POST UME was that “why will student write two different exam
just to gain admission?” I also reason that. Since POST UME is more like JAMB
itself, then why should candidate do the exam?
We have heard of different news that some students that were
going to write POST UME was involve in an accident. That’s one of the reasons
POST UME was scraped. Also, this exam is not secure because it is pen and paper
exam. There can be mix-up or any other mistake which might cost a candidate of
his/her admission.
SCREENING was introduced last year after the scraping of
POST UME. It involves the analyzing and grading of JAMB and WAEC results which
are refer to as “point System”. This favors candidates with a very good result;
a result most of candidate cannot defend. I still hear of students paying to “special
center”, as they call it for the purpose of giving them expo. Now that
screening is being introduced, I am very sure that parent will encourage their
children to pay for expo, teachers and invigilators will also find this as a
quick business to make huge amount of money since they know that students will
do anything just to have nine As.

scraped and which you think should be introduced. You can make your opinion
